Review : 5/5. Highly successful and controversial upon its release , the 70s rock opera classic shook first the musical theatre scene and then the silver screen with its retelling of Jesus' life . Starring cult icon Ted Neeley (Jesus) and disco queen Yvonne Elliman (Mary Magdalene) , the film feels dated nowadays , but the soundtrack is still relevant and spine tingling .
